Product information

Herbalife Afresh Energy Drink Mix in Elaichi, 50 g, makes a cardamom-flavoured tea drink from 1 g of powder and a cup of hot or cold water. Herbalife India suggests drinking Afresh in place of your tea or coffee.

Elaichi is one of three Afresh flavours sweetened with fructose, with Ginger and Cinnamon. Its list opens with orange pekoe and green tea extracts, followed by maltodextrin, fructose, nature-identical flavouring substances and caffeine powder sourced from coffee bean powder. Cardamom itself is not on the list. The elaichi taste comes from the flavouring. The label gives 0.59 g of total sugars and 0.11 g of added sugars per serving.

Each serving is 1 g of powder in 160 ml of water. The label gives 40 mg of caffeine, 3.52 kcal and 1 mg of sodium per serving, and the pack is marked High Caffeine. The pack says to have no more than three servings, or 500 ml of prepared drink, a day, and does not recommend Afresh for children, pregnant or lactating women, or people sensitive to caffeine. It carries the green vegetarian mark and is labelled a Proprietary Food Product. Herbalife India's web addresses still call the range herbal tea concentrate.

The 50 g pack holds 50 servings. If you would rather avoid a named sweetener, Lemon, Peach and Natural Tulsi list none.

Questions

Questions about Afresh Energy Drink Mix

Does Afresh Elaichi contain real cardamom?

Cardamom is not on the ingredient list. The elaichi taste comes from nature-identical flavouring substances, added to orange pekoe and green tea extracts. See the full ingredients.

Is Afresh Elaichi sweetened?

Yes, with fructose, which the list names as the sweetener. The label gives 0.59 g of total sugars and 0.11 g of added sugars per 1 g serving. If you prefer no named sweetener, Lemon, Peach and Natural Tulsi list none.

How many cups of Afresh can I have in a day?

The pack says not to consume more than three servings per day, or more than 500 ml of prepared drink per day. One serving is 1 g of powder in 160 ml of water, so three servings come to 480 ml and 120 mg of caffeine. How to prepare has the directions and the full caution.

Does Afresh Elaichi contain salt (namak)?

Salt is not an ingredient. The Elaichi ingredient list does not name salt or sodium chloride. The nutrition label still declares 1 mg of sodium per 1 g serving, so the drink is not sodium-free. See the nutrition label.

How much caffeine is in Afresh Elaichi?

The label gives 40 mg of caffeine per 1 g serving, and the ingredient block is marked “High Caffeine: 40 mg/160 ml”. The list names caffeine powder sourced from coffee bean powder, alongside orange pekoe and green tea extracts.
